Wrinkle Reduction Injections – What to Expect at Your Treatment
As one of the most popular treatments at Springwell Clinic, in this blog, we look at Wrinkle Reduction (or more commonly referred to as Botox) Injections, and what you can expect from at your treatment at Springwell Clinic.
Botox is a brand name but has also become a common name encompassing an entire product category of injectables that relax dynamic wrinkles of the upper face. The name Botox is derived from toxin used called Botulinum Toxin. Clinic’s use a variety of different brands of Botulinum Toxin, so it’s important to do your research and only choose a clinic that uses reputable, high quality toxins. At Springwell clinic, we use a Botulinum Toxin range called Bocouture™ and Azzalure™ from Merz. Wrinkle reduction injections are widely adminstered in clinics and by doctors across the globe. Due to its popularity and demand for cheaper treatments, there is a rise in low quality products and lack of expertise and knowledge provided by the practitioner, hwoever, when administered properly and safely, the results leave the face refreshed, relaxed, smoother, and brighter.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR TREATMENT
Your practitioner will evaluate the wrinkles around your eyes when you smile, between your eyebrows when you frown and on your forehead when you raise your eyebrows. The wrinkles that appear with movement of the underlying muscles are called dynamic wrinkles. Botox Injections work by softening the contracting of the underlying muscle and decreasing the overlying wrinkles. All of these muscles work in harmony, so it is very important to have an experienced injector (full details of our practitioners can be found at the end of this blog) who knows the underlying anatomy and natural movements of the face. In most cases, the Botox Cosmetic injections can be performed the same time as your initial consultation.
WHERE THE INJECTIONS WILL BE APPLIED
Botox Injections are applied to the crow’s feet wrinkles to the sides of the eyes when smiling or squinting, to the vertical glabellar lines (the 11s) between the eyebrows when squinting.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Botox Injections usually starts to work approximately three to five days after the treatment. So if you look in the mirror right after you get home, you are not going to notice any difference. However, after a few days, you will notice the wrinkles start to soften. The effects last for approximately three to five months. Most patients return every four months for repeat treatments. It’s important to have your next treatment before the effect wears off so you don’t lose the beneficial effects of stress reduction in the skin.
HOW MUCH IS WRINKLE REDUCTION (BOTOX)?
Botox Injections are usually priced per unit. Different areas of the face require different amounts of units. For example, the crow’s feet by the eyes requires between 10-15 units per side, the glabella between the eyebrows requires between 20-30 units and the forehead between 10 to 20 units. The average number of units my patients use is 50 units per session. Springwell Cliniics method for pricing is per area. For example, 1 area is £210.00, 2 areas £285.00 and 3 areas £360.00.
