What is HIFU?
WITH SO MANY TREATMENTS AVAILABLE TO US TODAY IT CAN BE HARD TO KNOW WHAT WILL WORK BEST ON OUR SKIN. AN INCREASINGLY POPULAR TREATMENT THAT’S TAKING THE INDUSTRY BY STORM IS HIFU WHICH STANDS FOR HIGH INTENSITY FOCUSED ULTRASOUND.
This revolutionary technology is used to lift, tone and tighten the skin. In the same way a magnifying glass can focus sunlight, focused ultrasound uses concentrated beams that pass-through the surface of the skin with little effect. When the beams reach the targeted skin layer, they stimulate collagen production.
The machine is able to work on the same layer that a surgeon would manipulate during surgery giving the skin an amazing tightening effect without the downtime. HIFU is the deepest possible treatment you can get without having to go into the skin with a needle or scalpel which it has become increasingly popular in recent years. This non-surgical facelift is perfect for those who have limited time as most patients only need one treatment. Other facials that produce similar results often require a course meaning you would have to have one treatment a week for as many as 8 weeks.
DO I REALLY ONLY NEED ONE TREATMENT?
Yes, up to 40% of the result can be seen immediately after the treatment and the final result can be seen in 12 weeks. During this time no further treatments are required, then after 24 weeks your Aesthetician will book you in for a follow up appointment to determine whether any additional treatment is needed. Immediately after the treatment the skin may become slightly pink however there will be no sign of the treatment on the skin other than the anti-aging affects. You may feel a tightness in the area that has been treated and it can sometimes feel tender along the bone for a while, due to the machine working on such a deep layer, however this will not be visible so you will be able to resume your daily activities straight after the treatment.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Here is the burning question on everyone’s mind, how much will it cost? Depending on the area, HIFU costs as little as £150 for a small area such as under your eyes to £750 for a full face and neck treatment. What can I do to enhance my results?
Like with any of our treatment we always recommend a good skincare routine, a healthy and varied diet and exercise and most importantly wearing SPF protection daily. We offer a wide range of skincare products to purchase alongside your treatment and your aesthetician will help you to build a routine that works for your skin. The skincare industry has come a long way in recent years and thankfully SPF is now widely available however always make sure you purchase at least a broad spectrum (UVA and UVB protection) factor 30-50.
