SKIN BLEMISH REMOVAL

NATURALLY GOOD LOOKING RESULTS

SHORT WAVE DIATHERMY

Clear Your Skin

As our skin ages, the likelihood of the appearance of skin blemishes, moles and tags on the skin increases.

At Springwell Clinic, we have decades of experience in the removal of all kinds of blemishes such as skin tags, milia (little white spots), Campbell de Morgan (little blood spots), seborrhoeic keratoses (age or sun spots), or benign moles that seem to appear overnight on our body.

The easiest and safest way to remove moles, skin tags and milia is with Short Wave Diathermy. This treatment is extremely safe and effective, and is a simple handheld device, used by one of our clinical nurses following successful consultation and confirmation that the mole is benign and safe to remove.

COMMON QUESTIONS

FAQ

  • Short Wave Diathermy is a very commonly used procedure which involves the use of a fine tip needle. We apply anaesthetic cream 30 minutes prior to treatment to numb the area, then apply a small heated needle to the blemish which delivers radio energy to destroy the tissue and cauterise blood vessels. A small scab forms to heal the area, which drops off 7–10 days later. The procedure will leave behind a small wound which is then covered using a small plaster.

  • When treating vascular conditions, diathermy is recommended due to 'pin point' accuracy. The minute blood vessel is sealed by means of cauterization or decomposition. The same techniques are used for spider naevi and cherry angiomas or blood spots. The removal of thread veins with advanced electrolysis is generally permanent but further damaged vessels can arise.

  • If you have any minor blemishes and are not sure if they can be removed, come for a consultation and we will advise you. Before removal of a mole for cosmetic reasons, it is a requirement that you visit your GP and have the area checked, prior to treatment.

  • Treatment and removal of these skin conditions will be permanent but you may require multiple sessions and regular 'tidy up' sessions every 12 months or so, to remove any new vessels that may emerge.
