Polynucleotides are highly-purified DNA molecules extracted from fish. The ones used in NEWEST®, PLINEST® and PLINEST® eye are known as PN-HPT.

When we inject them into there skin, they reach the cells called fibroblasts. These cells are responsible for the formation of connective tissue through their ability to produce collagen, which helps maintain skin’s firm structure.

As we age, collagen production declines, which is why our skin gets saggy and more wrinkled. Polynucleotides stimulate the fibroblasts to produce more collagen, leading to firmer, smoother skin.

While Profhilo uses hyaluronic acid to hydrate and bio-remodel, polynucleotides work at a DNA level to regenerate cells and repair damaged tissue. They are particularly effective for improving skin quality around delicate areas like the under-eyes.

Before you undergo treatment with PLINEST®, PLINEST® eye or NEWEST®, your practitioner will cleanse the skin. They may then apply a numbing creamer cool compress to reduce pain before administering multiple injections across the treatment area.

We typically recommend a course of 2 – 3 sessions spaced 3 – 4 weeks apart for optimal results. Maintenance treatments every 6 months help sustain the improvements.

The treatment involves fine needle injections which cause minimal discomfort. Topical numbing cream is applied beforehand. The procedure takes around 20 – 30 minutes.

Initial improvements in skin hydration can be seen within days. The full regenerative effects develop over 4 – 8 weeks as new collagen is produced.

As with any injection, you can expect your skin to be slightly red and swollen immediately after the procedure. You may experience pin-prick bleeding, bruises and some itchiness, but it’s important to avoid touching the treated area for at least 12-hours.
