What are
Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a versatile, non-invasive solution for restoring volume, enhancing facial features, and reducing wrinkles in the face, neck and décolletage using biocompatible hyaluronic acid.

At Springwell Clinic we select the dermal filler that is the right thickness and consistency for your desired outcome – a volumising product for lift in the cheeks, shaping products for lines, wrinkles and lips, and finer products for very fine lines and contouring.

COMMON QUESTIONS

FAQ

  • Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to lift and volumise facial lines and wrinkles, provide fuller lips, and smooth the contours of the face. They contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin which hydrates and attracts water, leaving a healthy, natural-looking result.

  • We use the Belotero® range of hyaluronic acid fillers. Belotero Volume emulates bone tissue in the cheeks, jawline and chin; Belotero Intense replaces volume in deeper wrinkles such as marionette lines and naso-labial folds; and Belotero Balance is used for superficial lines. The HA is derived from bacterial fermentation, not from animals.

  • Dermal fillers can treat nose-to-mouth lines, mouth-to-chin lines, cheeks, lips, chin and tear troughs under the eyes. Lip fillers reduce lines caused by pursing of the lips and restore fullness and definition, including enhancing the Cupid's Bow.

  • Your practitioner will assess your facial structure and desired outcome, then recommend the best type of filler and placement. The treatment area is cleansed, numbing cream may be applied, and filler is carefully injected using a fine needle or cannula. The procedure takes 30 – 60 minutes with minimal discomfort and little to no downtime.

  • There is a chance of bruising, localised redness, mild swelling, itching or discomfort. Allergic reactions are rare but can be treated. As with all injections there is a small risk of infection, although precautions are taken to prevent this. We are happy to talk through any concerns prior to treatment.

  • HA fillers are long-lasting (6 – 18 months) but not permanent. Duration depends on the product used, how much is used, your age and general health. Metabolic rate, smoking and sun exposure can also influence how long results last.

  • Dermal fillers are suitable for men and women over 18-years old. We do not treat if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have allergies to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine. If you are taking blood-thinning agents, you will bruise more easily – please discuss this with your nurse.
